Student Anti-Homophobia Leadership SummitPosted by MaxwellxMurders in Untagged |
So I don't know who reads these blogs, but my admin powers have been swiped out from under my feet. SO.
I shall post some useful information here:
Join Everyone Allied Against Homophobia at Columbia University for our 7th annual Student Anti-Homophobia Leadership Summit (SAHLS) on March 29-30, 2008.
This 2-day conference focuses on skill-building for high school students who are involved in their Gay-Straight Alliances or other similar groups at their schools. We also welcome students who are interested in starting GSAs and would like the tools to do so.
Previous workshops have included topics such as recruiting new members, planning events, learning your rights as a student, and safe sex for the LGBTQ community. We have had speakers from the Gay/Lesbian/Straight Education Network (GLSEN), the New York Civil Liberties Union, and the Gay Health Advocacy Project, as well as student activists from Columbia.
The conference is free and includes all meals for the weekend. Overnight housing is provided in dorms with Columbia and Barnard students.
In order to attend SAHLS, you MUST APPLY by sending an e-mail to columbia.sahls@gmail.com. You will be sent an application which you will have to e-mail back. We can only accomodate a certain number of students, so we ask that if you apply, you are certain you can attend.
APPLICATION DEADLINE IS MARCH 6th!!!
Please e-mail rg2209@barnard.edu with any further questions.
